Raise Awareness – Yield to Pedestrians
Raise awareness – Pedestrians First!
Drivers and pedestrians alike are reminded to “Get Back in the Habit” of staying alert at crosswalks.
Alberta law requires drivers to yield at all marked and unmarked crossings, helping protect vulnerable road users such as children, seniors, and people with mobility challenges.
Key habits include slowing down near intersections, scanning in all directions, avoiding passing stopped vehicles, and watching carefully during low-light conditions.
Pedestrians are encouraged to use the “Point, Pause, Proceed” method to increase visibility.
By sharing responsibility and improving small daily behaviours, communities can reduce risks and make roads safer for everyone.
