Philosophy
The Dalhousie Community Preschool is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of education and guided by FLIGHT: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework. Together, these approaches support our belief that children are capable, curious, and full of potential.
The Reggio Emilia philosophy emphasizes close observation of children—what they know, what interests them, how they learn, and what challenges them. Educators use these observations to reflect and plan meaningful, developmentally appropriate experiences that support each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
Aligned with FLIGHT, we recognize the importance of nurturing children’s well-being, expression and engagement, and participation and belonging. We focus on building responsive relationships, co-creating learning experiences, and supporting children as active citizens in their learning communities.

Registration
Registration for Dalhousie Community Preschool is open to all Calgary and area children ages 3 and 4.
Our school year runs from September to June. We accept ongoing registrations throughout the school year till Dec 31.
