2026 marks an exciting year of the Dalhousie Community Garden & Food Forest! While our raised garden beds are being constructed and installed this season, regular plot rentals will officially kick off in May 2027. In the meantime, we are establishing a priority waitlist system giving you the perfect opportunity to secure your future plot early while helping our shared green space thrive.

The Future Setup: When rentals open, the garden will feature 49 total garden beds, including 10 dedicated wheelchair-accessible beds situated on level pathways.

Earn Priority Access for 2027: Because no plots are available for rent in 2026, you can secure first access to the 2027 rental pool by participating in the Food Forest Volunteer Priority Program.

Volunteer Commitment: Simply complete a minimum of two volunteer sessions this season helping water and weed the Food Forest, care for new fruit trees, and maintain shrub plantings to land a spot on the Priority Registration List. Volunteer to be a Worker Bee today!

Session Times: Standard volunteer work parties take place on Saturdays at 10:00 AM. If Saturdays do not work for your schedule, alternative times can be coordinated directly with the Garden Coordinator.

Open to All: This priority program is open to all Dalhousie community members, and there is absolutely no fee to volunteer or join the priority list during this establishment year.
Note: Garden Bed Rentals in 2027 will require a DCA Membership at the time of registration.
